Independent Economic Society (IES) is an economics society of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB)

Independent Economy Society (IES) seeks to promote interest in the study of Economics and its applications to the real world problems through interdisciplinary dialogue and debate among all students at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB).

The objective of IES is to expose the student population to various economic issues so that they will have a better understanding of what economics entails.

IES goes to Delhi

The Economics Association of Sri Venkateswara College invited IUB to participate in an International Economics Summit titled Blisspoint 2009 held in Delhi from 27th -29th October, 2009. Md. Khaled Saifullah and Himadri Shekhar Day of the Independent Economic Society represented IUB in this international event. The summit was inaugurated by various prominent personalities with great enthusiasm. There were several events which took place in Blisspoint 2009 amongst which IUB’s participants took part in horse trading, unmanageable, business plan and filler events. Other than students from many Indian national universities and colleges, international delegates from Pakistan, Bhutan, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka also participated in the summit.
